Our original Public House has been a vibrant fixture of the downtown Bend, Oregon scene since 1988. Not only were our very first beers brewed here – think Black Butte Porter and Jubelale – but we quickly became a gathering spot for locals and visitors alike. While the beer speaks for itself through a total of 19 taps, our chefs also put the same quality and hand-crafted excellence into the cuisine.
Our beer-centric menu features fresh ingredients, many sourced from local farmers, foragers and ranchers with whom the team has built strong relationships over the years. Most menu items are hand-crafted from scratch whenever possible, and several items are made with spent grain from the brewing process. Nitro Obsidian Stout
A stout as black as the nearby volcanic flow from which it is named. Dive into its dark, robust depths with intense layers of espresso and chocolate. Roasted malt and barley give it a full, toasty finish.
King Crispy Pilsner
This fine beer was crowned WINNER of Pilsner Fest-The Bitburger Challenger at North Portland German Beer Bar Prost!
Black Butte Porter
This is the beer that started it all. A delicate, creamy mouthfeel contrasts with layered depth revealing distinctive chocolate and coffee notes. Dark and rich, yet easy to drink.
Mirror Pond
The quintessential Northwest pale ale. Cascade hops and more Cascade hops give this tawny colored ale delicious hop-forward aroma and flavor. Pale malt allows the hops to linger, not overpower.
Old Craig Amber Lager
An easy drinking lager with dry, toasted malt character to balance the Northern Brewer hops. Light rye spice adds to the complexity.
Obscure Origins Pale Ale
An easy drinking Pale Ale featuring peach, lemon and tangerine character from Elani and Chinook hops.
Ginger Cookie Imperial Porter
This imperial porter utilized ginger cookie spiced malt, ginger juice and brown sugar.
Rillo Grande West Coast IPA
Collaboration with Virgil Gamache Farms and The Hop Guild featuring Amarillo, Vista and Citra hops. Bright citrus notes with a crisp finish.
Scouser's Brown Ale
Classic English Brown ale character with notes of toast, roasted nuts and hints of chocolate.
Kaiser Crispy Imperial Pilsner
Extra strong pilsner. Crisp and drinkable.
Catharina Guava Sour
Aromas of guava and sweet tarts. Flavor starts fruity and tropical and finishes with a refreshing acidity.
Otter Encounter Summer Ale
Gold Medal Winner at Best of Craft Awards '24. A traditional English Summer Ale made with Maris Otter Malt and Delta, Amarillo and Spalt hops. Malt forward but balanced hop presence.
Bachelor Bitter
The locals' favorite. Bitter is the most traditional of our ales. Bachelor Bitter has a deep copper color, rich malt body, and classic English hops.
Squeezy Rider West Coast IPA
Chill out with this juicy refresher that's packed with heaps of hops to bring torrential tides of tropical flavor and a dab of dankness.
Big tropical fruit punch aroma, light dank, and melon paired with clean, light malt character. Hop and yeast-driven fruity sweetness balanced with a bitterness that is laid back, leaving you care-less about IBU’s.
Fresh Haze IPA
A hazy twist on your main squeeze, this juice bomb explodes with notes of orange citrus sweetness and a soft malt body.
Fresh Squeezed
This mouthwateringly delicious IPA gets its flavor from a heavy helping of citra and mosaic hops. Don't worry, no fruit was harmed in the making of this beer.
The Abyss Tequila (2017)
Imperial stout brewed with black strap molasses, licorice with cherry bark and whole vanilla beans, 100% aged in tequila barrels for 10 months.

Hop Dipped Gluten Free IPA
GOLD MEDAL WINNER at the 2022 Oregon Beer Awards! Only gluten free ingredients used including white sorghum, brown rice, Belgian candi syrup, maltodextrin and so much hoppy goodness.
Wayfarer Cider
Walking and talking cider in an 86 year old Oregon apple orchard, we, alongside the orchardist, hand selected varieties and developed a proprietary blend with distinct acid and tannin structure. Through experimentation and selection we developed a unique sour cider which utilizes five apple varieties, and spontaneous fermentation with the wild yeast from the apples.
