Deschutes River Recordings
In thanks to our namesake river, Deschutes Brewery unveils an event to benefit the Deschutes River Conservancy’s work to preserve the river and its watershed. In a unique partnership between musician and cause, we’ve lined up a roster of independent artists to perform river-themed songs from the banks of the waters so vital to our ecosystem, not to mention to our beer. Deschutes Brewery fans submitted the songs. The Brewery and Artists made the final selections. Enjoy the films. Download the music. Explore the cause. All proceeds benefit the conservancy’s “Bravely Done” efforts, a public/private success model for clean water collaboration everywhere.
Featured Artists
Eric D. Johnson of Fruit Bats
Consummate musician, Shins sideman, respected songwriter and film composer Eric D. Johnson and his band Fruit Bats have just released their 5th album on Seattle’s famed Sub Pop label. From soaring pop confections to darker, rootsier explorations, he traverses genre and instrument with a savant’s unlikely ease.
Eric Earley of Blitzen Trapper
A fixture on “best of” lists from Rolling Stone and Pitchfork, Eric and his Blitzen Trapper bandmates are currently touring in support of their latest, American Goldwing. While “Alt Country” loosely applies, shades of Pavement and Townes Van Zandt and assorted sonic detours defy easy classification. Also on the Sub Pop label.
Laura Gibson
Steeped in antique rural roots and drawn to the minimalism of the avant garde, Laura Gibson alights on her own branch of the music tree. More instinctive than trained, she “likes to feel the rumble in my sternum and the vibrations in the back of my throat when I sing.” Coos and cracks, clucks and purrs included. Touring behind her latest album La Grande, she records on Barsuk Records.
Download for free or donate what you can. All proceeds benefit the Deschutes River Conservancy.
