All Hail The King! 

King Crispy is the proud winner of the esteemed Bitburger Challenge at Prost! a German-beer pub in Portland, Oregon. The Challenge is sponsored by Bitburger and the winning brewery gets to go to Bitburg and ultimately brew a collaboration with their team. A dream come true for any brewer! With the win Deschutes brewers Jake Harper and Jim Lazenby, who crafted King Crispy at our Portland Pub, were invited to Germany to visit the style’s founders and collaborate on a recipe formulation with the Craftwerk Brewmaster.

King Crispy not only caught the attention of the judges that day, but was the audience choice as well. Since then, this traditional German Style Pilsner has become a cult following of sorts within Deschutes Brewery as co-owners are out of their minds excited about this beer and this accomplishment, which has become the beer of choice at every brewery gathering. The label design was even inspired by the tattoo of the brewery’s Process Automation Software Engineer! (that’s another story) 
 
Rallying to get this fine pilsner in the hands of Deschutes fans as fast as possible, the brewery is thrilled to be able to offer King Crispy 6 pack cans across the Northwest and other select markets in the New Year.
