Bend Pub

Sous Chef:
We are looking for a talented and experienced Sous Chef, who is driven, excels in a fast-paced kitchen, and is committed to the highest standards of quality and presentation with a “guest first” focus.  The right person will be outgoing, positive and a supportive and motivational leader.  He/she will maintain quality standards and the cleanliness of the kitchen and equipment and ensure all plates leaving the line are up to standard.  Leading by example, this person will be a great “Brand Ambassador” at all times.  Leadership responsibilities include mentoring and training all BOH staff, handling difficult conversations, and continuously seeking opportunities to praise and reward team members.

REQUIREMENTS:  We are a fast-paced kitchen so a sense of urgency, attention to detail and commitment to quality are required!  Extensive knowledge of classic and modern cooking techniques, as well as a basic knowledge of ordering, scheduling, food cost and proper menu pricing are expected. 5 years line cooking experience (preferably in a full-service establishment) and a professional attitude are a must.  2+ years kitchen management experience is preferred.  Schedules are mostly set, but flexibility is required.

Brewery

Facilities Maintenance Technician:
If you are a competent “handyman/jack of all trades”, we want you! This position will maintain all Deschutes Brewery Facilities. The successful candidate for this position will need to be capable of using hand and power tools; know how to frame, sheetrock, paint (between the lines), repair tile work, wood work, and weld/fabricate; and assist other parts of the Maintenance Department as needed. LME license in order to perform electrical work at our numerous facilities will be a plus.

REQUIREMENTS: A strong understanding of construction industry and safe work practices, good communication skills, ability to work well with others, strong attention to detail, ability to work independently and customer service are a must. Routine lifting of up to 50 pounds and ability to apply intermediate math and computer skills is required. Regular schedule will be days, Friday through Monday, but may vary depending on plant needs. The position requires travelling to our other facilities for several days to a week at a time and working long hours and off-shifts when emergencies arise.

Market Sales Managers:

These positions will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with our distribution and account partners to promote Deschutes Brewery products within their territory. Market Sales Managers are accountable for achieving assigned volume and profit goals, assigned distribution goals, volume per outlet goals and securing all account standards.

REQUIREMENTS: Four year college degree or comparable work experience, a minimum 5 years experience in adult beverage sales, confident interpersonal skills, PC proficiency, a valid driver license and clear driving record, and a passion for the craft beer industry. Project Engineer:
This position will assist the Project Manager and other engineers in overall Corporate Capital and Expansion activities for the Brewery and associated Pubs by taking responsibility for implementing a project from conceptual design stages to startup and commissioning. Supports new equipment installation and continual vision of plant expansion and upgrades. Provides mechanical, process and electrical technology expertise to all departments.

REQUIREMENTS: College degree in Engineering, minimum 5 years of process engineering and project management experience, multiple project management experience with a value greater than $1M, proficiency with project management software, broad understanding of all associated codes and regulations, varied manufacturing environment experience. Electrical controls experience will be a plus.

Tour Guide:
We are currently recruiting for a part-time tour guide to join our team. Our tour guides show groups of people the amazing process of craft brewing—tastings included. This position will be responsible for guests’ 1st impressions of Deschutes Brewery and provide extraordinary experiences by celebrating the culture of craft beer and Deschutes Brewery through tours, retail sales and greeting groups.

REQUIREMENTS: Great attitude and presentation skills, excellent customer service skills, comfortable communication skills in a group setting, ability to show grace and enthusiasm in a high stress/busy environment, OLCC server permit, knowledge of and passion for craft beer.

QA Lab Technician – Graveyard:
The Quality Assurance Department is posting for a QA Lab Technician: Graveyard. This position will be full time (40-hours/week) five days a week, 10pm- 6:00am. This position will be responsible to meet the needs of the QA Department by assisting mainly in Packaging Lab operations with some duties in the Brewing Lab. Additional job duties will change as needed to cover QA operations during peak production.

REQUIREMENTS: Four year college degree preferred in Fermentation/Food Science or related disciplines, experience in a team based production environment; emphasis in Packaging/Brewing a plus, effective interpersonal skills, strong self/time management skills a must, general lab experience and safety practices, PC proficiency with Excel, Word, and Outlook, and solid written and verbal communication skills.

Executive Assistant:
We are currently looking to hire a highly experienced administrative professional to join our team as the Executive Assistant, supporting the Founder/CEO, President, CFO, and Director of Brewery Operations.  This exciting opportunity will play an integral role in the success of the team! This position will perform an array of high-level administrative tasks such as calendaring, meeting scheduling and preparation, executive correspondence, travel coordination, and other project management support as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum 3 years of experience in a similar administrative role
  • Should be exceptionally organized and capable of balancing multiple priorities at once
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a highly autonomous environment
  • Highly professional with the proven ability to use the utmost discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Must have excellent communication (verbal and written) and relationship building skills
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Highly resourceful team player
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, specifically working with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills

Sanitor: Production Floor Sanitation:
This full-time position will be responsible for sanitation in the production areas of Brewing and Packaging areas to include malt and hop rooms, cellar floors, brew deck and vessel cleaning, sanitation of all packaging equipment.  Primary shift will be days covering weekends with midweek days off but must be flexible to work off shifts when necessary.  Must have effective problem solving skills, ability to work independently and have a solid team based orientation. REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment; Focus on safety and product quality standards; Experience with fork and scissor lift operations; Routine lifting required.

Maintenance Tech:
The maintenance department is recruiting for a Maintenance Tech.  This position’s primary responsibilities will be HVAC equipment, chiller, AC units and glycol systems.    This is a full-time position and the current schedule is days and will include weekend work.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 5 years of related experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Preference will be given for knowledge and experience in the following:
    • Well rounded mechanical background.
    • Servicing, maintaining and diagnosing causes of malfunction of HVAC equipment, chillers and related equipment, roof top AC units, cooler chilling units and glycol/R-22 tank chilling loops.
    • Knowledge of current regulatory requirements for documenting, monitoring and storage of refrigerants.
    • Maintenance of plant production and utility equipment such as pumps, valves, compressed air, water systems, steam/boiler systems, conveyors and building and grounds issues.
