Since the Kentucky Derby was yesterday, it just seemed fitting to post our latest blog highlighting our recent trip out to Kentucky! "The Kids," Mirror Pond Pale Ale and Black Butte Porter, had never been to this part of the country before, so when Deschutes Brewery announced that they'd be expanding into the "Bluegrass State", we were all on board.
Last month we headed to Nebraska for a week of launch events to introduce Deschutes Brewery beer to the craft beer fans of the Midwest! Since we had never been to "...The Good Life" State, we decided to take "The Kids" along for the ride....and some sightseeing.
Mirror Pond Pale Ale and Black Butte Porter pair very well with sports so our first stop was the TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha. This baseball stadium is the home field of the College World Series and has been since 2011. Due to an agreement with the NCAA, the games will remain there each year until at least 2035. With seating for 24,000, it's a great place to watch the series in the summer, the Creighton University Bluejays in the Spring and the Omaha Nighthawks (United Football League) in the Fall. After hearing "hey, batta, batta, batta, batta," about 100 times from "The Kids," we decided to head on to our next adventure.
With fall quickly approaching, now is the time to fit in that one last summer activity you’ve been itching for. Be it camping in your favorite spot, hitting the beach, or enjoying the last few summer days on your porch, Mirror Pond Pale Ale is a perfect companion. Mirror Pond’s perfectly balanced hops and malts make for an extremely damn tasty beer that doesn't overpower the taste buds.
Just because summer’s ending doesn’t mean the fun has to follow. We’ve teamed up with our friends at Untappd to bring you the “Sip on Mirror Pond” badge. This badge can be yours up until September 20th so don't delay! To unlock it simply check-in to a Mirror Pond Pale Ale and share a photo of your beer so all of your friends can see! Be sure to add the photo when you check-in, though, to get the badge. We would love to hear about your Mirror Pond experience so please include #MirrorPond when tweeting and posting photos on Twitter & Instagram!
As part of the Marketing Department, I was asked to accompany other Deschutes Brewery crew members to Chicago for a huge beer launch. This sounded like an exciting adventure so I thought I’d take “the kids” along for some sightseeing since neither Mirror Pond Pale Ale nor Black Butte Porter had been to the windy city before.
