The beauty of Pickett’s Charge is to watch and race with the aforementioned talented pro racers (okay, usually from behind) enthusiastic masters, juniors and beginner mountain bike racers. The goal of Pickett’s Charge in Don Leet’s words is to “have the funnest course with the most single track.”
Guess it’s a good thing that a large part of the race takes place on a trail called “Funner.” Also a good thing the race ends with a cold pint of Deschutes Brewery beer in your hand! Couldn't think of a better way to end this mountain bike race! Cheers!
The Fermentation Celebration is a beer walk beer in the Old Mill District, with hop filled tastings of Bend’s numerous local breweries. The 3rd Annual Fermentation Celebration takes place on Thursday, June 19 from 4-10pm.
Live music from several local bands! Bands include The Rum and The Sea, Wilderness, 2nd Hand Soldiers, Victory Swig, Hilst & Coffee, Summit Express, Juniper & Gin, David Miller and a procession of bagpipes to get things going.
Portland Fruit Beer Festival is going to be full of tart and tasty offerings including Deschutes Brewery's Peach Slap! This Sour Ale with peaches sits at an ABV of 3.2% and has an IBU of 22. Peach Slap is a crisp, tart Belgian ale with a generous helping of peach puree. The base beer is light but well-rounded thanks to a portion of unmalted wheat, and gains complexity from the addition of juniper berries and pink peppercorn. You will have to try it for yourself at the Portland Fruit Beer Festival! See you there with your pals!
