Taking "The Kids" Sightseeing in Nebraska!

Taking

Last month we headed to Nebraska for a week of launch events to introduce Deschutes Brewery beer to the craft beer fans of the Midwest! Since we had never been to "...The Good Life" State, we decided to take "The Kids" along for the ride....and some sightseeing.

Mirror Pond Pale Ale and Black Butte Porter pair very well with sports so our first stop was the TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha. This baseball stadium is the home field of the College World Series and has been since 2011. Due to an agreement with the NCAA, the games will remain there each year until at least 2035. With seating for 24,000, it's a great place to watch the series in the summer, the Creighton University Bluejays in the Spring and the Omaha Nighthawks (United Football League) in the Fall. After hearing "hey, batta, batta, batta, batta," about 100 times from "The Kids," we decided to head on to our next adventure.

The Granddaddy of Beer Fests: GABF

Deschutes

A couple of weeks ago our team made the annual trek out to Denver, Colorado for the granddaddy of beer fests, the Great American Beer Festival, otherwise known simply as GABF. We joined over 600 breweries on the Colorado Convention Center floor, pouring 20 of our damn tasty beers for around 49,000 craft beer fanatics. The Brewers Association folks who put on the festival say over 3,100 different beers were poured, one ounce at a time, for thirsty festival goers. But that’s not all…

Eating, Drinking & Dancing in the Streets

Deschutes

August is here which means Street Fare is near! (Yes, we’re poets and we know it) We can’t believe this is already our fourth year shutting down Davis Street in front of our Portland Pub for this amazing event, bringing together some of Portland’s finest food carts, brilliant local indie bands, and our favorite summer brews.

Award Winning Beer Any Day, Any Where

Brewers

Medals for five different beers and receiving "Best of Show" trophies for Mirror Pond Pale Ale and Obsidian Stout at the International Brewing Awards (which has been dubbed ‘the Oscars of the brewing industry’) is a great honor for all of us here at Deschutes Brewery. This year’s competition contained 953 beers from 199 different breweries in fifty different countries! Forty distinguished brewers from 17 different countries judging the beers makes this competition stand out from others.

Recovering from Halloween Cyclocross

Deschutes

The Cross Crusade Halloween shenanigans returned to Bend this year with two days of racing taking place literally in our backyard. And yes, that is a ferris wheel in the middle of the course, anchoring this year’s Cyclo Du Soleil theme.

Umpqua River Adventure

North Riding the North Umpqua Trail is one wild and scenic experience. Every section offers amazing river side single track with steep climbs, technical terrain and spectacular scenery.
