Spike Jonze presented “You & Me on La Cienega” at a BBQ at Opening Ceremony in West Hollywood. The director and producer of such wonderful movies as Being John Malkovich and Where The Wild Things Are, arrived to showcase his new installation, which featured three “air dancers” rising over a large crowd of OC regulars, musicians and artists in the store’s adjoining parking lot space in West Hollywood.

Patti Smith’s quote: “New York has closed itself off to the young and the struggling. But there are other cities. Detroit. Poughkeepsie. New York City has been taken away from you. So my advice is: Find a new city.”

On January 3, 2010, Katie Spotz embarked on a solo ocean rowing crossing of the Atlantic Ocean, in a planned 2,473 mile westward route from Senegal to French Guiana. En route she altered course, increasing the total distance by approximately 400 miles, setting Georgetown, Guyana as the terminus for a total distance of 2,817 miles.

Since 2000, this Portland contemporary art hub has been creatively provoking, exploring, inspiring and sticking sharp elbows in the ribs of cultural complacency.

Originally hammered out of an abandoned Masonic Temple Disjecta exposed a void in accessible exhibition space, housing more than 500 shows, ushering in 3,000 artists and more than 30,000 patrons.
