Reserve Series
| We throw out all the rules when it comes to our Reserve Series. But we throw in all the best ingredients and brewing techniques to make small batches of innovative, bold flavors. These brews age well and have a higher alcohol content. Although our Reserve Series takes more time to brew, they disappear quickly due to their popularity and limited release.

Black Butte XXII
The much anticipated release of Deschutes Brewery’s Black Butte XXII is being cancelled this year. The Imperial version of the brewery’s popular Black Butte Porter, this year made with chilies, dark chocolate and orange peel, has been a favorite since it was first brewed in 2008 for the brewery’s anniversary.
The experimental chocolate that was used in this year’s formulation never fully dissolved in the beer. While most of it dissolved, a portion formed a layer on the surface of the beer. While the beer tastes perfectly fine, the visual in the bottle is not up to our long-held commitment to quality and positive customer experience.
Pushing boundaries like we do means that things don’t always turn out the way we expect. However, we promise to never back away from the line, even when the risk is great.
We will have very limited amounts of Black Butte XXII on draft at the Bend Pub, Portland Pub and the Bend Tasting Room.
As with all of our Reserve Series beers, we recommend drinking one now and saving a bottle to drink a year from now. These beers only get better with age if they are cellared properly. That's why we put a "Best After" date on the bottle. Next up, The Dissident...
