Focused on Fresh Beer

A few folks from our Sensory Panel took some time to talk about our sensory program, commitment to consistently delivering fresh beer to our fans, and why we include a "best by date" on our labels. After you watch this short film, let us know if you have any questions in the comments section below.

Hitting the Slopes with Tiny House

We're stoked to partner with Outdoor Research this year by keeping their Tiny House taps flowing with damn tasty beer! And Woody can't wait to camp alongside Tiny House in early February up at Mt. Bachelor. Follow the tour on Instagram and Twitter by searching #ORTinyHouseTour. Now we just need some snow.

Taking "The Kids" Sightseeing in Philly!

Philly

Philadelphia…the city of brotherly love and cheesesteaks! We were lucky enough to have a few hours free during a very busy, event filled Base Camp Week to take “The Kids” sightseeing around our first East Coast city!

We decided to hit up the three main sights every tourist should see when they are in downtown Philly:
1) The “Rocky Steps”
2) The Love Statue at Love Park
3) The Liberty Bell

There are lots of other amazing sights and museums but when you’ve only got three hours before your next big event, these are right up there on the top of the list.

Jubelale 2013 Artist Slideshow

Before the Jubelale season comes to an end, we want to share the slideshow that this year's artist, Avlis Leumas, put together. It's always interesting to see how the artist brings their concept to life and to know what inspired them along the way. We hope you enjoyed this year's amazing artwork as much as you enjoyed the beer. Long live Ollie. Cheers!

On 25 and More…

Deschutes

New Years Eve, 1988; it seems like a month ago this week started. The busiest week in the brief history of the brewpub, far busier than any that preceded it. Everyone’s tired. But everyone’s still game for what is to come. I’m tired, really tired, but relieved that people still want to come out and see us. I’m tired because my Christmas day was largely spent with a hot water hose held on the cone of one fermenter we are still trying to get started. Fortunately, I have a great wife and great parents that kept me company for a large part of that day. Even more fortunately, it seems like we might survive this week, and this first year (6-months really) and, although we’re battered, we’re still here, still in business. I’m excited for our new bookkeeper who is starting in a week. It’ll be the third we’ve had in the first 6 months and I don’t need to be hiring another one. So many things to do and all I can think about is getting some rest. Oh well, no one asked me to be here. I guess I’ll keep going and look for things to improve. We got our beer to the Mountain (Bachelor) and they seem to be happy. I haven’t skied yet, but, then again, don’t think I’ll have time this winter. We have a city league team that I’m on and I think I can get to the race, then come right back to the pub, if I time it right. It’ll be nice to ski, but I’d sure like a warm up run, or two….

What To Do With All Of Those Cookies...

So the family has come and gone this Holiday Season and all that remains of their visit is COOKIES! Lots of cookies! There are oatmeal raisin, sugar, peanut butter, chocolate chip, chocolate chunk chocolate, and snickerdoodles galore. Rather then go on a binge and eat all of them in one sitting, we've got a recommendation for you. How about a Deschutes Beer & Cookie Pairing with your friends? Get out your cookie sheets, sample glasses and head on down to your mix and match 6-pack store for your favorite Deschutes beers. We had a ton of fun eating and sipping and sipping and eating and we hope you will too! Here is our version of a "Cookie Sheet!" Cheers & Hoppy Holidays!

We're looking forward to getting out to Ohio and Kentucky next month to introduce craft beer fans to our damn tasty brews from Oregon. Stay tuned for those details as they come together and we'll see you after the holidays. Cheers!

Taking "The Kids" Sightseeing in Nebraska!

Taking

Last month we headed to Nebraska for a week of launch events to introduce Deschutes Brewery beer to the craft beer fans of the Midwest! Since we had never been to "...The Good Life" State, we decided to take "The Kids" along for the ride....and some sightseeing.

Mirror Pond Pale Ale and Black Butte Porter pair very well with sports so our first stop was the TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha. This baseball stadium is the home field of the College World Series and has been since 2011. Due to an agreement with the NCAA, the games will remain there each year until at least 2035. With seating for 24,000, it's a great place to watch the series in the summer, the Creighton University Bluejays in the Spring and the Omaha Nighthawks (United Football League) in the Fall. After hearing "hey, batta, batta, batta, batta," about 100 times from "The Kids," we decided to head on to our next adventure.
