Since the Kentucky Derby was yesterday, it just seemed fitting to post our latest blog highlighting our recent trip out to Kentucky! "The Kids," Mirror Pond Pale Ale and Black Butte Porter, had never been to this part of the country before, so when Deschutes Brewery announced that they'd be expanding into the "Bluegrass State", we were all on board.
“The Kids” (Mirror Pond Pale Ale and Black Butte Porter) were ready to venture to new lands in the mid-west and decided to plant some roots in Ohio. They heard that Ohio was very knowledgeable when it came to craft beer and with all of the pre-prohibition brewing history in places like Over-the-Rhine, we wanted to learn more so...we boarded a plane and flew into the Dayton, OH airport.
Being named “World’s Best Beer” at the World Beer Awards in London, England for the 2nd time in the last 4 years, I thought it was time to do some world traveling of my own. Most of the time when someone accomplishes something Big, they usually go to the happiest place on Earth…for me, being a NW Pale Ale and all, I needed to chill, so I ventured to the land down under-- Australia!
We are excited to announce the dates and cities for our fourth year of “Base Camp for Beer Fanatics”, a week of specialty beer tastings, beer and food pairings, pub crawls, and overall celebration of craft beer goodness. This year, we will be bringing our brewers, ambassadors and damn tasty brews to the following locations:
We're stoked to partner with Outdoor Research this year by keeping their Tiny House taps flowing with damn tasty beer! And Woody can't wait to camp alongside Tiny House in early February up at Mt. Bachelor. Follow the tour on Instagram and Twitter by searching #ORTinyHouseTour. Now we just need some snow.
Philadelphia…the city of brotherly love and cheesesteaks! We were lucky enough to have a few hours free during a very busy, event filled Base Camp Week to take “The Kids” sightseeing around our first East Coast city!
We decided to hit up the three main sights every tourist should see when they are in downtown Philly:
1) The “Rocky Steps”
2) The Love Statue at Love Park
3) The Liberty Bell
There are lots of other amazing sights and museums but when you’ve only got three hours before your next big event, these are right up there on the top of the list.
Before the Jubelale season comes to an end, we want to share the slideshow that this year's artist, Avlis Leumas, put together. It's always interesting to see how the artist brings their concept to life and to know what inspired them along the way. We hope you enjoyed this year's amazing artwork as much as you enjoyed the beer. Long live Ollie. Cheers!
