Bike-Inspired Beer: Chicago Black Bock

Posted on: June 3rd 2014

Last week we announced our partnership with Oregon Manifest and our bike-inspired beers. Today, we’re excited to tell you about the first of five tasty beers we’re brewing for this amazing bike design project: CHI Black Bock, brewed to pair with MNML x Method Bicycle’s yet-to-be-revealed bike design and the city that inspired it.

Assistant Brewmaster Veronica Vega had this to say about the inspiration behind the beer, “With the harsh weather in the Windy City, both your bike and your beer need not only be rugged but well designed. That’s why we brewed this Black Bock, a strong beer with a lot going on. It’s big on the hops with a malt backbone suitable for a heavy hitter committed to going the distance.”

ABV: 7.5% | IBUs: 35
Hops: Herkules, N. Brewer, EKG, Hallertau Mittlefru
Malt: 2 Row, Oats, Caramel 150, Chocolate, Midnight Wheat
Yeast: Czech Pilsner

Taste this beer for yourself and see the bike that inspired it at the Chicago reveal party on July 25!

MNML + Method Bicycle’s inspiration: “The ultimate utility bike for Chicago was born in the depths of winter, but will be ready to roll all summer long. It takes some determination to navigate our streets through all four seasons, but we are up to the challenge. Our bike is a thing of beauty, but there’s still some dirt under its nails. Strong. Rugged. Refined. Chicago rides nonstop.”
