New Year’s Resolutions

The Ancient Babylonians began the practice of making New Year’s resolutions.  One of the most common ones in their time was, “I will return my neighbor’s farming equipment.”  Here are some of ours:

I will do my taxes – from 1991.

I will figure out a way to take up six parking spaces at once.

I will not eat cloned meat.

I will not focus on my faults.  I will focus on the faults of others.

I will buy my lottery tickets at a luckier store.

No more spontaneous, whirlwind affairs with Baywatch stars.

I will answer all questions with, “Don’t go there, girlfriend!”

I will stop sending emails when I’ve been drinking – especially since those guys at the Central Intelligence Agency have no sense of humor.

I will return my neighbor’s farming equipment.

Where’s the Beer?
Here are three well-traveled bottles of Deschutes Brewery beer.  Megan Darby sent us a picture at the Treasury in Petra, Jack Jordan with a Mirror Pond Pale Ale (You may recognize it from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade).  Kellie Ford sent us a photo of Quail Springs I.P.A. at the World Cup Downhill in Lake Louise, Canada.  And a man so faithful he named his own son “Porter”, John Mason shows us a Cinder Cone Red in Oaxaca, Mexico (he took it SCUBA diving also).  Thanks everyone, your cool stuff is on its way.

Next time you take an exotic vacation, pack a bottle of Deschutes beer and send us a photo (Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal, World's Largest Ball of String, etc.).  We’ll send you cool Pub Stuff if we publish it.

Employee Profile

Melissa Talbott has spent the greater part of her adult life at the Pub – in a good way.  She was brought on fourteen years ago as a waitress by her old friend Gary Fish.  She moved on to bartending and eventually became a very valued manager who always looks after our staff.  She picked up her husband right here at the Pub and is currently carrying their second child.  She has made herself indispensable - not just because she’s the only one who knows where everything is.  Her favorite beer (as you may be able to tell) is Bachelor Bitter.  If you don’t already know Melissa, which you probably do, say, hi the next time you’re in.
