1 Bottle Mirror Pond Pale Ale 1 Cup Sugar 1 teaspoon ground Nutmeg 1 teaspoon ground Cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground Cardamom 1 pinch ground Chili Flake 2 peeled, cored and quartered Pears
Add everything but the pears to a saucepan and heat to boiling. Reduce to a simmer and add pears for about 5-7 minutes or until soft. Carefully strain and chill the pear quarters. Save and chill the liquid.

Use something from the drawer with all the stuff in it (ice cream scoop, small measuring cup, whatever) to make approximately 2 oz molds of goat cheese and place on a cookie sheet pan. Heat for about one minute under a broiler right before serving. Place on top of spinach salad (below), garnish with pear slices and drizzle some of the poaching liquid over the salad.
1 bag Baby Spinach ¼ cup Olive Oil 2 Tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar 1 Tablespoon Sugar ½ teaspoon each Salt & Freshly-Ground Pepper ½ teaspoon Fresh Thyme
Whisk the vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper and thyme together in a bowl. Slowly drizzle in olive oil while whisking. Toss vinaigrette with baby spinach to coat.
Deschutes Brewery Employee Profile
Nikki Mills has been a positive force on the Deschutes Brewery team since she started as a server at the Pub in 1995. She has since moved to the plant where she is currently our Safety Coordinator. Nikki brings fun and excitement to the normally mundane business of safety - in fact, Nikki’s a little bit wild and crazy. At the ?nish of our expansion, along with a pizza party and ice cream, Nikki organized a stealth TPing of the contractor’s trailer. Deschutes Brewery’s a fun place to work, especially with people like Nikki around.
Where's the Beer...?
Send us a picture of one of our beers in an exotic location (North Pole, Amazon Jungle, top of the Eiffel Tower, downtown Cleveland) and we’ll publish it in our newsletter. The most exotic photo will win some great Brewery stuff. Act Now! Judging will take place December 31st.
And here’s a start: While on a boating trip on the Elbe with her children, Peg Gunterman of Sunriver took a picture of one of Deschutes Brewery’s Territory posters that was hanging on a wall in a beer hall in Berlin. |
