E x p a n s i o n U p d a t e !
Right now the sparks are flying and the cranes are craning. By the time you read this, we'll have dropped in our new 400 barrel tanks and all the equipment for our new 137.5 barrel brewhouse. Hopefully we'll have a new roof as well. It's been like working in a beehive, but our courageous and creative staff has managed to work around all the activity and continue to produce great beer. We're excited about getting the new brewhouse going.
There will be a period of adjustment, but rest assured we will not release any beer until it is as good (or better) than what we're producing now.
Winter in Central Oregon
Well, it's here - the time of year that half of all Central Oregonians look forward to. Snow on the Mountain - skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, dog sledding and snow angels. The steelhead are running in the Deschutes, the geese are migrating (I don't know where the swans in Mirror Pond go), and it's cold out.
We've got a fire going at the Pub and Jubelale on tap. Come join us for a bit of Holiday cheer..
Great American Beer Festival Medals
Deschutes Brewery received three medals this year at Colorado's Great American Beer Fest. Obsidian Stout Received a Bronze in the Foreign Stout Category, B‘ndsch Kšlsch received a Silver in the Kšlsch category and Twilight Ale received A GOLD MEDAL in the Bitter category. Twilight Ale is a new seasonal beer that we tested this past summer and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Look for Twilight Ale next June in your local watering hole and stores.
Save a Tree!
Remember, The Bitter Truth is also available online. If you would like to be notified when a new issue comes out, email us at hrogers@deschutesbrewery.com and we'll switch you to our email list. (There's also a bunch of other fun stuff on our website at www.deschutesbrewery.com.)
